    Workshop Description:

Come learn how GE Fanuc is Changing What’s Possible In Process

This workshop is designed to provide you with an overview of Proficy Process Systems and help you understand first hand how it can solve your process control problems.  The Workshop provides students with an instructor-led hands-on experience with the next generation in process control systems – Proficy Process Systems. During the workshop you will start with a P&ID drawing outlining the requirements for a control system, and will then construct the system through a series of hands-on labs.   In doing so, you will learn about the differentiating features and benefits of Proficy Process Systems including its Global Namespace, Process Function Blocks, Faceplates, Alarm Handling capabilities.  Additional advanced topics will be introduced through a slide presentation.

    Workshop Agenda:

    Introduction to Proficy Process Systems

    • Learn how we will deliver Results based on the  Experience of GE Fanuc,  our Process Partners, and System Integrators.

    Instructor Demonstration

    • Review a typical P&ID Drawing
    • Identify the control elements of the drawing
    • See the final system and then decompose how it was created

    System Architecture Overview

    • Learn how Proficy Process Systems leverages well proven and contemporary technologies to allow you to scale a system from a single computer to multiple computers
    • Learn about the Engineering Workstation and how it provides a single place for system configuration
    • Learn how you have the Freedom to chose from two of the leading HMI visualization technologies
    • See how Change Management can provide you with audit trail and backup capabilites
    • Understand how Historian allows you to store and analyze your process data.

    Engineering Workstation Lab

    • Construct your control strategy and logic using the drag and drop process function blocks provided in the system.

    Alarm Handling Lab

    • Configure the alarm blocks provided in the system and learn how the system differs from traditional HMI/PLC systems.

    Global Data Lab

    • Populate your global namespace and see how once configured, your tags are available throughout your system.

    Operator Console Lab

    • Create your operator interface screen by dragging and dropping the included faceplates

    Historian Lab

    • Learn how to extract your process data and use Excel to create your own custom analysis and reports from the data.

    Who Should Attend?

The course is designed for process control engineers and systems integrators interested in learning about how Proficy Process Systems will provide them with the freedom and flexibility to design a process control system based on proven and contemporary technologies.   Attendees will have the opportunity to develop a control strategy for a typical process control scenario.

    Are There Any Prerequisites?

Participants should be comfortable operating in an MS Windows® environment, and have a basic understanding of process control.

What Tasks Will Be Taught in This Class?

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

    • Use Proficy Process Systems to design and develop their control strategies.
    • Populate and maintain a single global namespace that can reduce development by 40%
    • Use the predefined visualization objects and faceplates to create operator control screens.
    • Implement alarming on their process control system
    • Store and retrieve their process data from the historian

Do I Need To Bring My Computer?

All hardware required for the workshop is being provided.  Students do not need to bring their laptops as computers and PAC controllers will be setup in advance for the workshop.
